One shot for a world of good
We champion plant-based nutrition. Not only is it a smart choice for humans, it's good for the planet too.
The story of our journey
Following a health scare, Nutrient Rescue founder Michael Mayell moved towards a more
plant-based diet. He led him to discover that over 60% of New Zealanders don’t eat the Ministry of Health’s recommended or more servings of fruit and veggies a day. Instead, they were overdosing on macronutrients, especially meat, dairy, alcohol and sugar. He realised that although people needed to increase their micronutrient and plant food intake, this was challenging for most families, as life often got in the way.
He decided to set up a health food company dedicated to helping people increase their nutrition levels in a quick, easy and affordable way. Working with a qualified nutritionist and food technologist, he developed a range of superfood powders that did just that.
Michael decided only to use New Zealand grown plants to give the farming community a viable organic opportunity, which meant less harm to our planet.
Nutrient Rescue was set up as a social enterprise, so there is a purpose behind profit and a social impact model against which to gauge success. The social impact model focuses on family nutrition, planet-healing supply chains, and directing profits to the causes it champions.
At Nutrient Rescue, we believe everyone should have easy access to plant nutrients they need to fuel their bodies and be their best selves - because the better you feel, the more good you can do. That’s why we created Nutrient Rescue: 8 powerful organically-grown nutrient-dense superfoods, taken in a single shot every day.
Our family.
Our driving force.
The dominance of highly processed foods in our diets means most of us aren’t getting the right nutrients. Nutrient Rescue makes it easy to dial up your daily intake of fruits and veggies in an effective, convenient and affordable shot of nutrient-dense superfoods - the building blocks for health and wellbeing.
Our team.
By encouraging the need for people to get more organic, plant-based ingredients into their bodies, we're supporting an industry of hard-working local growers while providing farmers with an opportunity to diversify. Growing superfoods is also easier on the environment - making sustainability something we can truly celebrate.
Doing some good every day.
