How do we make sure we are getting enough of this hero micronutrient?
Vitamin C is an essential nutrient meaning our bodies can't make it naturally, so we need to get it from foods and supplements.
Eating fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to get in this super nutrient as not only do you get in the vitamin C but also numerous other vitamins, antioxidants, phytonutrients, minerals, and fibre that come with it.
Berries, citrus fruits, capsicums and kiwifruit are great sources of vitamin C... when they've been freshly picked! 80% of the water-soluble vitamins in produce are lost within four days of harvest. So, unless we are shopping locally and seasonally it's unlikely we are eating produce within this timeframe.
